Four Brigs for Arofan

Arofan has most generous to me providing a great number of ships form his 3D printer "Shipyard." So when some Frigates I picked up come with some additional Brigs I saw an opportunity to if not quite repay my debt to at least provide a down payment.

I did two of the ships as American Ships. One has the Black and White of the US Navy the other could be a Warship, Privateer or Armed Merchant. 

The Two Royal Navy ships are near twins. I used damaged sales for one to make it easier to tell them apart and you could even use one as a damaged version of the other if you wanted too.

The State of the Fleets Oct 2020

The French Fleet has seen some expansion adding three Ships of the line since the last update.  I've also ordred a French First Rate.  The French force currently stands at 3 Ships of the line (3rd rates) 2 Frigates (5th rates) 1 Corvette (6th rates) and three brigs. 

The greatest expansion has been the British Fleet which stood at a single frigate back in May.  The Royal Navy now stands at 2 Ships of the Lind (3rd Rates ) and 5 Frigates (all 5th Rates). Two of the frigates are smaller 3d prints that could be used as 5th or 6th rates.

The USN is may larges fleet with two of the "Super Frigates" United States and President.  There are 6 other 5th rate frigates.  For Smaller ships there is a Sloop of War (6th Rate) five Brigs and a pair of Revenue Cutters. Thats a total of 16 ships. 

Last of all the unaligned ships, merchants pirates and so forth. One large merchant and two small merchants, four Xebecs, a stand of gunboats, nine schooners and eight small vessels/boats.

These will make fine Large Merchants for Black Seas. I haven't flagged them yet and may not since as merchants are usually targets in Naval games.

I used some extra stern pieces from my Black Seas Frigates to dress them up a bit as these details weren't very crisp.  On ship uses the Black Seas ratlines while the other uses some that are 3d prints.

English Frigate and French ship of the line

 

Two new ships one an English frigate the other French ship of the line join my collection. 

The Ship of the line is the last of the box set I got and came looking quite handsomely. I have not yet christened the ship. 

The flags and be swapped out because of magnets or by simply pulling them off the mast heads and then she will be English or some other flag as needed. 

The second ship is an English frigate that I have decided to use the "bark tan" or red sails.  These were common in the far east so this ship may have recently returned from service in the Indian Ocean or East Indies.

The affect is quite striking, and she looks very fine.  She will make a good pirate if I ever need one.  

Her flags can also be swapped out for another letting me field them as American's, French or others as needed. 

3D Frigates Arethuse and Mahonesa

 Some new vessels courtesy of Arofan 3D shipyard.  A pair of frigates that started life fighting the British and then fought for them.

On the left is the Mahones which I have to restrain myself from calling the Mayonnaise. On the right is the Arethusa.

The Arethusa was captured by the Royal Navy in the Seven Years War and was involved in the opening engagement of France and Britain's conflict in the American Revolution. 

Her colors work for both English and French ships in a pinch but I think she'll mostly be an English ship for me.

The Mahonesa was a Spanish ship and two of her class were taken into British service early in the Napoleonic wars.

I did her stern in red as a reminder of her Spanish origin.

These ships are a bit smaller than Battle front ships. The hight difference (especially in the hull) is less than ideal but not too bad. Length is about right as Arethusa was a 36 gun ship and the warlord ships are 38s. So that works.

The Mahones was either a 36 or 34 gun ship (I've seen both listed) so the shorter hull works here as well. Thanks again Arofan for helping me grow my fleet.
