Twitter!

A friend of mine re-tweeted my post yesterday about our Galactica and you can see the results! 303 hits so far on that single post and 346 total hits yesterday on the blog.

This is crazy powerful social media... I may have think about breaking down and getting on board!

Snow Panzers

Just finished a set of Flack Panzer 38(t)s (which I like enough I bought a 3rd for the full platoon) and the pair of Panzer IV(H) tanks I got from Don at the Dead Lead Night. This picture really shows off their white wash paint scheme that sadly did not translate as well in other pictures. I may have to try these again in different light or perhaps use a white back ground.

Battlestar Galactica play test

Tim has been working on some rules for Battlestar Galactica and also working on some models. The rules a based of Mongoose Publishing's Call to Arms rules but ship stats are Tim's own (influenced by a number of offerings on the web)   I was cast in the roll of Imperious Leader (sorry John that was a terrible plan the old school Cylons are taking over).

The colonial Fleet(commanded by Ted)  their mission is to escape and save humanity... (hey were are all the crappy cargo haulers and transports!)
My Baseship Raiders and Heavy Raiders. Tim decided to put an asteroid field in my way that's OK my troops are replaceable so forward Han Cylon!
The fighters move in though the asteroid field I send the base ship around to the right of the field hoping to end around and hit the Battlestar before it can escape. Ted got the better of the initial dog fights, but over time my numbers would begin to tell.
Ted getting some clarification about using the Galactica in an anti-fighter roll.
Galactica's crew failed its roll and was not able to make it second turn making its run to the table edge harder. I have a few Heavy Raiders free and start pecking away a the ship with close in runs by the raiders and Missile strikes from the Base ship. (I had three racks and fired them two one turn then one the next, next time I will probably only have two racks)
Run puny humans! Galactica breaks free of the melee but has been hit in the thrusters, my heavy Raiders give chase and the Base ship throws caution to the wind and begins closing to rail gun range.
Don Laughs at the game table banter as the Galactica shrugs off the last barrage of Cylon missiles and makes the last second jump to light-speed. The Cylon's just missed killing the Galactica, a lot of colonial fighters died (so did a lot of Cylons, but they are replaceable) and some one probably had raw hooray I am still alive sex in one of the Galactica's bathrooms.

Tank Ace Trainng at the Whiz

When I got to the Whiz this past Sunday we found a very odd situation Seven players, 6 with Axis Armies and 1 Allied player.  Normally I carry both a US and a German Force but this Sunday I had decided to travel light and only brought my StuG battery list. So it was decided we would run Tank Ace games in preparation for the Tank Ace event at the Whiz next Sunday.
Mark with German Infantry faced off against another player with an Indian list (Sorry sir forgot your name). The Germans won this little battle, (fairly handily from what I saw).
Landon(in the picture above) and Jerry (not shown) faced off in a match up of Power against Power as both had a pair of King Tigers (we did 2 round tank aces with 700 points as we has set up full sized table)
Bill and I had a different match up. He had a list of trained Panthers against my Veteran StuGs Backed by Nashorns. I drew First blood with a long range shot from an 88 that killed his Ace.
Bill was back on my fast taking out a StuG and a Nachorn
I managed to flank and kill another Panther.
Bill has some bad luck and was down to one tank and trying to find a way out!  He didn't find one...

Over all a good game on both sides I lost both Nachorns, and a StuG Bill lost 4 Panthers, I certainly had the better end of the deal.
Ben next took me on with a Russian Assault gun(IS-122s?) force. These monsters had nasty AT 14 gun and a 9 for front armor. Being Russians they cannot shoot for beans.  I started the game by double bailing one with my Nachorns and driving it off board on turn 1.  We then moved into the woods were most of the action too place.
I had really bad luck with my Bog test this particular Stug spent 5 of six turns here!
Critics of Flames of war will hate/love these pictures, Ben and I kept turning in close proximity in the woods.  I needed flank shots, plus moving to the flanks meant Ben would need a six to hit me, and that was the only thing keeping me in the game as my luck was terrible
At the start of turn 7 (when the game ended) I had one Operational StuG let I got one of Ben's Assault guns (Is-122s?) and forced another to run away. My Nachorns flailed all but one Fire power check and my shooting was very bad.  Ben's dice were good if he had not needed a six to hit in most cases he would have shot all my StuGs out from under me.

Regiment D'Angelo

I would not call myself the best of painters but event the best make mistakes.  Regiment D'Angelo is one of mine. For some reason I started flocking the base before I put on the coat of gloss coat and the second layer of wash.  With the flocking done I didn't want to hit these guys again as it tends to make the static grass look messy.  So I just hit them with the dull coat and called it done.
They don't look to bad but they don't have the same depth and pop the other units have had. Oh well they will look good on the table at a distance.  I am using these guy as on of my two conscript Infantry units. As a newly raised regiment they have no history to speak of just men eager to make their name.
Thanks to my loyal readers I had my highest number of hits in November about 50 views shy of 2500 views in a single month.  Feed back is greatly apriceated as are the efforts of those who spread the word.

Congradualtions to Breakthough Assult for their recent Liebster Award and my thanks for providing Fencing Frog with an "Honorable Mention." Ben and his team have an excellent blog and I am grateful for his support, and the free publicity.
