Challenge X Entry #6

From AdamC: O'Grady's Gulch Warmonger Halbardiers (61 Points)

These are 10mm Landsknechte Halbardiers from Warmonger Miniatures a local company here in Massachusetts that I have shown before here in previous challengers. I kept this set simple Blue tunic with red highlights.

The pants are done in red with yellow Highlights and yellow feathers. I've had these for a while but they now have a cause worthy of them. These boys are heading over to the UK to join the Army of Light as Part of James' project to memorialise his son. There aren't enough here for an army but they'll be a fine addition to some army or other and I hope James will accept this small contribution.

I got as close as I could to James' basing requirements from what I had at home. I had to glue two bases together to get the frontage. I've used white glue so James should have no problem re-basing them. 10mm miniatures are 1 point per man for 30 points and another 30 points for the miniatures painted for a friend so 60 Points in total.

Oooh! Those do look rather spiffing in their primary colours. And all for a great project (note to self - need to paint my contribution at some point).

The only fault I can find with your scoring for these is that you forgot to add a point for the hand-painted flag, so that brings your total for this entry to 61 points!

Challenge entry Landsknecht Arquebusiers

30 more Arquebusiers Landsknecht troops. I split the two men strips up so I could give these stands a more ragged appearance.



First up is the green and black reminiscent of Jager units of latter days.



Not as colorful as the others but still the yellow feathers give them a little dash.



The Wasp Company in yellow and black as I have called it.



The brightest and unit in the group and my favorite of the bunch.



Blue and Pink the final company of Arquebusiers I figure these troops will work as skirmishers screening the Tercios or covering the rough ground on the flanks.

Challenger Entry: Two and Two-Thirds Tercio

These are 10mm figures form Warmonger Miniatures a local company in Worcester MA that I supported via the Kickstarter they have a small line of landsknecht troops. There are 60 Pikemen and 60 arquebusiers.

The Front two stands each with 20 Arquebusiers are in gray and red...

They are painted to match a unit of Pikemen I painted a few years ago.

The second groups is 30 Pike men in brown with orange in the slashes typical of the landsknecht uniforms.

The two sleeves of arquebusiers are in matching uniforms.

One of the things I love about this set is the musician is a fiefer not a drummer.

Here we have the last group another 30 pikemen in golden brown and with blue in the slashes

Hear are the two sleeves of arquebusiers are show form the rear since you saw the other guys from the front.

Rear of the pike men, the flags are hand painted. This isn't my best work but it is only the second time I have worked in this scale and the detail on these small figures is impressive, I think they have more detail then many 15mm figures. I think I might need to give them a wash I can't recall if I did or not with the last set or note. Any way please check out Warmonger they have great products. 1000 Post Give Away!

I started this blog in 2009 to tell the story of my Volley and Bayonet Campaign I was playing with Luke. I was unemployed at the time and it was partly an effort to fill in some time.

A few months Latter I was busy working for the US Census and then starting a job with Marriott and didn't have time to game.  I restarted the blog in July of 2011 and started writing steadily in 2012, as I found more connections in the local gaming community.

This past year has seen more and more readership and soon the page will welcome its 200,000 visit (probably two months from now).  So taking my queue from other blogers I am doing a little drawing.

Finally a partial spruce of Wargames Factory Viking Bondi. There is a enough here for 3 soldiers all with shields and hand weapons.

At the risk of sounding gauche please indicate if you are willing to help with shipping (especially over seas).  I have a good idea of how much domestic shipping will cost, and it should be no problem, but over seas shipping is a bit of a mystery and often pretty pricey.

Warmonger Arquebusiers Unboxing

Another Kick Starter unboxing this time from the local company Warmonger Miniatures  I got my self 4 units of Arquebusiers and another unit of pike men.  This should provide me with a good corps for a pike and shot army.

These sculptures are excellent and my pictures don't do them justice the detail for the scale is frankly amazing. 

Dave's own picture is  lots better than mine so I am adding it aw well. 

Warmonger Miniatures second Kick Starter

You guys may remember these guys pike men form Warmonger Miniatures

Well they are holding a second kick starter to fund the creation of hand gunners to go with them.

Warmonger Miniatures Pike men 10mm

 One of two units of pike men I got form he Warmonger Miniature kick starter.  I was impressed with the detail on these little fellows.  I have to say they were a bit quicker to paint that 15mm but not much as there is so much detail here

 The fifer is much appreciated I get sick of seeing drums with out their companion instrument.

 I like the detail (thought it a little hard to see) of men in the front rank holding short swords or maybe a long dagger in on hand while supporting the pike with the other men slipping under and between the pikes was a real issue for pike blocks.

 Rear view gives you a good sense of the details in the legs and arms lots of cloth folds here. Very nice figures and they are local (Worcester MA) so supporting them is doubly good
