Challenge 8 Review.

Thanks Curt, Minions and all for another excellent challenge.  I don't have a true group shot I just didn't like the look so I've done group shots.
The Footsore collection(and one Bones Viking) 66 miniatures Odin stands a bit of place among the Irish and Norse Gaels.

An close up image of Brian Boru and the other Irish leaders on Boru's hill.  The Curt Geld miniature didn't sell so I have made a donation to Exta-Life on my own.
The musicians and the tea party another 9 miniatures from Eureka miniatures.
The three Bones Ogre and Oni.
The 5 Bones Lycanthropes.
The 4  wild west version of the Wizard of Oz also by bones.
Bones Monsters, hero's and heroic monsters.  All together I painted a total of 94 25/28 mm figures
The final piece a scratch built 15mm World War II anti-tank bunker the only 15mm scale miniatures I painted this year.  I hit most of my painting goals this challenge.  I didn't get the Bones Mausoleum completed but it was started.  I accumulated 699 points a low total compared to previous years but this year had new challenges (a baby and home ownership). I'm planning to be back next year thanks for another great experience.  One thing I regret about the challenge is I didn't get to look at and comment on as many of my fellow challengers painting.

More Redoubt Figures and Size Comparison

I got these two (and some others that are not yet painted) at the same time as Francisco de Quevedo miniature since I was ordering from the UK and it didn't make sense to take the hit on the shipping for one figure.
I like this guy best of the two.  Its not a formal fencing guard but its reasonably close and I see him as a man sweeping is blades in front of him to make a crowed of enemies back off.
The figure has great details on the collar and the slashed pants and sleeves. I don't know if slashed pants like that were an actual thing but it feels reasonable.
I'm not entirely sure what to make of this stance it the arms were higher and stretched out further it would be a reasonable fencing stance.
Sort of like the guy on the left.
Again its a finely detailed and good quality but his stance is a little odd. These two will probably get play in En Garde!
Warlord; Redoubt; Brother Vinni; Eureka
Redoubt enterprises figures are big by removing the base from the feet entirely  I was able to get him (second from the left) to be about the same height as the others in my collection.  They are little bulkier then the others but not too bad.

Four Swashbucklers

You've seen these fellows before when I unveiled Captain Alatrieste.  These four are from Eureka miniatures Portuguese Conquistadors set.
My favorite figure of the set.  He looks like he's just finished off one foe and is turning to face another.
The buff coat, hair and face are wonderfully detailed...
as is the sword and not one but two daggers, clearly a man ready for all comers.
This energetic  figure is an interesting one. I'm not sure if his pants have worn out and he's dress only in his shirt tails or if he has on some sort of kilt or perhaps slops of the sort sailors some time use.
His waist coat has lost it sleeves,  I gave him a blue hat with a natty feather to set off his otherwise some what tattered appearance.
This fellow is clearly a warrior.  I twisted the sword arm to bring the point forward into a 1st or high guard for the rapier.  The stance is one of the best I have seen for a figure of the scale.
His buff coat is a little worn but in good shape as his all his gear.
I would say this fellow is working his way though some brush the sword seems like its in a compromise between, fending off branches and being ready to fend off attackers.  I do find his helmet and interesting touch maybe he picked it up or maybe he discarded his heavier armor because of the heat.
Its a little odd that a man has a helmet but no shoes. The details on the rapier guard is impressive, thought that is not entirely clear in the picture.
