The Living Museam

Though its not yet in its final form Sandy and I deiced to do the living museum scenario from the Frostgrave books (still waiting on my Licht Lord package!)
The Museam Provides a good view for both sides as its an open area... not entirely open but We are already in line of sight.
The Evil mouse wizard with some of his cohorts.
Lucian the rabbit ranger takes aim and takes down the mousling wizards dog.
The mousling have the cheese.. I mean the treasure and statues are coming to life.
My apprentice is moving on his side and has grab on token with Telekinesis and drops it not the hands of the halfing Caltha Harfoot...
Arrows fly back and forth across the museum.
The Bear vs. The Berserker statue.  Bumby (the Bear) is fighting well.
I've gotten lucky and statues are waking on Sandy's side of the board.
The Mouslings start throwing elemental bolts at stues...
My Archer switch targets to take aim at the statues as the game starts to resemble a Ray Harryhausen film.
The mouslings are also fighting against the statues and...
Having some success...
We are all battling statues the two war bands almost ignoring each other...
More move in...
My wizard battles a statue but backs away so I can keep casing spells
The Moulsing Barbarian faces off with one of the two remaining statues....
and down it goes... Sandy's boys are heading for the exits and mine are headed that way too... the game ends as I get off my 4th token the last on table... it was still early so Mike and made some changes to the table...
and prepared for another trip into the Ruins of Frostgrave.

Dark Sword Critter Kingdom Kick-starter unboxing

When I got to work this morning my Dark Sword Miniatures from the Critter Kingdom Kick-starter had arrived.
Three Dogs: one Pug and two Basset Hounds. Three: Cats (foes for the mouslings perhaps)
Of course the Mouslings also have some allies 8 more anthropomorphic mice (scale is not a match but you can't have every thing).
Also 8 Anthropomorphic rabbits ready for battle there is also an otter cleric and two pandas
For scale the mice and the mouslings don't match unless of course they are to mice-men what Hobbits are to humans.  They do scale well reasonably well with the otter and rabbit.
The detail on these guys is really good they really look like ready for anything adventures in the best tradition of a D&D dungeon crawl.  This was also a good deal too, the price was better than half off Dark Swords normal prices. Dark Sword has a new project up too Tony DiTerlizzi Masterworks Miniature Range

Challenge Entry Mouslings the comedy round that didn't happen

These little fellows are the Mouslings form the Bones II Kickstarter. When I saw them I immediately thought of the Mice of Redwall the protagonists in a series of children's books my brother and I read growing up. I got these and painted them up. My plan is to bring them with me on trips to visit my nephew (soon to be Nephews) as a special toy that comes with Uncle Adam (and maybe get them interested in game as time goes by).
First we have the Archer clearly he spends his days hunting cats to protect the mousling community.
These are 25mm figures and Reaper gets some nice details on the figures like the stitching on the quiver.
Next we have the mysterious forest mouse who lives out side the keep... I gave him a little bet of unkempt and dirty look.
He has some strange powers drawn form his shining ball.
I don't have a clever designation for this fellow yet. He strikes me a the local boy swept up in the great adventure by fate. He has a sword, a fairly big one (for a mouse) so maybe Martin (a hero from the early Redwall books.
The yellow scarf really pops against his gray-green cloak a suggestion from Ariana on color. I think it will catch a child's eye.
The Bee boy. Clearly inspired by falconers this mousing trains bumble bees to hunt? or maybe scout? I don't know exactingly how he uses the bees but I really love the idea this is one of my favourite sculpts.
I decided to do this odd patter on his cloak he has spent so long with the bees he has started to dress like one.
Sneaky mouse, clearly he is up to no good! or maybe hes coming back from a foraging mission of some sort. He might have just got caught as his little dagger is drawn.
The patch on the sack is a nice touch, clearly he has had a successful trip hope he can escape who or what has caught him.
The Girl archer I love the holly leaves and berries on quiver.
I tried to get her to look like the male archer in coloration I figure they are brother and sister.
Every band of adventures needs a wizard! you can't quite see them in the picture but he has spectacles balanced precariously on the end of his nose. I also like his busy eye brows.
Ariana suggested the yellow color of the wand making it look a bit less like a stick and more like lightning or some mystical energy jumping from his hand.
The Princess my least favourite figure but I suppose heroes need some one to rescue. I toyed with painting her the same colors as the archer mouse suggesting secret identity but decided against it.
I did try to make hem of her dress a little dirty like she regularly escapes her escorts and goes skipping though the woods and fields on her own.
Ariana suggested the color combination and I think this looks quite nice. I figure she and the Bee boy may be related.
King mouse! Somebody has to be in charge! and clearly he is the mouse, Ariana said he has angry eyebrows maybe someone has just told him of the princess's running off on some adventure with the young mouse with the scarf?
I think the cloak came out well and I like his acorn scepter, clearly acorns are the source of the kingdom's wealth.
My favourite figure the Samurai Mouse! I am tempted to name him Splinter clearly his is an important ambassador from a far ways kingdom of mice. Not sure what he is doing here but he looks fabulous in his yellow kimono and top knot hair due.
I decided to decorate his kimono with orange and red flowers. I am very pleased with how this came out.

Two group shots.

I just painted the bases as I plan on using these with kids and I don't want flock coming off and getting eaten.

Santa Mouse

This is my "Cold Theme" submission for the Analog Hobby challenge please go vote for it here: http://analogue-hobbies-theme-rounds.blogspot.ca/ you can vote for as many entries as you want using the survey on the right hand side.
This is the Mousling Santa and helper from Reaper Miniatures painted for my Nephew William as part of a Christmas gift including a children's book I ran across years ago called "Santa Mouse." A heart warming little story about a mouse who gives Santa a Gift and gets recruited as a side kick.
Normally I use more wash but in this case I wanted the colors bright and sharp... the beard was a particular challenge as I wanted it to have depth but I also didn't want it to look dirty. I think I redid the beard at least three times.
The helper was a simple project though the over sized ears were a bit of a trick.  Also I love his little reading spectacles.
Close in on our Santa Mouse. The eyes were an issue I think they are too big I tried to do them in a black/brown like a real mouse but the came off wrong.  I softened  by painting them blue but they still don't seem quite right.  This will be my entry for the Cold bonus round.   So I think that give me 10 points for the figures (25mm scale) and maybe a another 50 if it is deemed to meet the bonus round criteria.
A couple of rear angle shots on both figures.
