Hungarian Students Vs 3rd Armor

Since both of us had the day off I met up with Gerry Lane at the Whiz on Monday.  It was the first time I had been to the Whiz in months and I hadn't seen Gerry since Huzzah in May so it was great to reconect.
My reluctant Veteran 3rd Armor are ready to looking to move into and beyond some European Village.
Gerry and his Fearless Conscript Hungarian Students battalion are also ready to go.
Jerry sent his Tankettes (L3/35s I believe) forward for recon and the Stugs soon followed fire on my big infantry platoon didn't result in any hits
Gerry also had his Pioneer troops advance into the woods in the center to either support the armor or deny it to me depending on how things played out
My platoon of standard Sherman Tanks moved into the village and landed multiple hits on Stugs two went up in flames while the third was bailed out
Gerry failed his moral check so the crew of the third set charges and ran for the rear.
Gerry got a bit of his own back as his big AA Gun hit one of my tanks and blew it up to the cheers of the Gerry next tried to get his recon tankettes in to position to hit my mortar half tracks...
instead he found himself surrounded by Sherman tanks who eliminated the threat with a liberal dosage of 50 and 30 Caliber MG ammunition.
Gerry's attempts to kill my Jumbo with artillery failed thanks to a good armor save on my part..
but he did get of of my Easy 8 Sherman tanks.
The Tanks moved forward a bit to clear the smoke and landed multiple hits on the battery we pinned them but didn't get any kills.
I survived another bombardment and Gerry is threatening my flank with those pioneers.
Multiple tanks spray the woods and two pioneer teams die.  Gerry kills another Easy 8 and I get one of his big guns we've played about 2.5 hours and both of us have thrown some good punches Gerry has lost two platoons while I have lost none (I am down three tanks).  I have to get heading home so we decided to call it a draw I probably couldn't have shifted Gerry off his objectives but his army probably can't advance against me with both its armored elements eliminated. All in all it was a fun way to spend the day after Christmas.

Fun Elements House

This showed up once before in 2013 when it was given to me by my gaming friend Jose Anes.  He made these as a gift to his opponents in a flames of war tournament.  It was a very nice gesture and I really like the house but its sat on my too do pile for far too long.
So I decided to paint it up for use in my up coming ACW game at Fort Deven's Game Day.  Jose got a lot of nice texture on the roof and the brick work.
The windows even had curtains out lined on the windows a amazing little touch.  I went simple on the colors, gray roof, redbrick, light blue-gray for the windows.  The Yellow door was to give a splash of color and I think it works.  Some of the brick could use a touch up so it looks better in close ups.
Its a two story building and the floor of the second story is engraved with the event I got the house from Jose at.
The lower level has no floor which is find as the house will sit of the table directly.

Challenge Entry: PSC Half-Tracks

These are Plastic Soldier Company Half tracks 15mm scale.

My first experience with Plastic Soldier company and I liked the models but I wasn't as impressed with the the figures that came with them.  They looked fine out of the box but the details disappeared after priming.. others have mentioned this over at the challenge and the BF figures scattered int eh group look fine.
I did add a few extra men from my bits box including the guy on the left who is Battlefront
As you can see he's in a dark leather jacket benefiting an officer who can buck regulations a bit.
I'm glad to have these as they will be more than adequate as a support unit for my US Armoured company for Flames of War.

Anglo-French Taining excercis: First game of 2016

I met up with Mark for the first time in a long time at the Whiz Sunday and we decided to pit our early war lists against each other. Mark was running his Early war Indians and I had my French Recon, the Mission is Hasty Attack
My boys advance in the recon phase pushing on the left most objective...
as far from the three Mathildas as possible (I have nothing that can even scratch their paint).
Turn one we are in assault rang and unleash a storm of MG and gun fire that pins but doesn't kill a single gun
My assault is less than successful with two tank bailed out (and thus destroyed) though they do leave a bit of smoke screen I can use.
Matilda and her sisters are on the way...
More troops come up... more MG and cannon fire...
We get one Boffor but lose a platoon of Panhards in the process...
and Matilda and her sisters are now in the area...
Mark is having some firepower troubles of his own...
I move troops to the right hoping I can stretch Marks defenses and maybe bring pressure on this second objective.
Infantry moves forwards hopefully they will be able to follow up the tank assault.
In go the French armor it’s a savage fight but over a several turns mark has the better of it.
With two bailed out I concede my dice were bad and I may have been to aggressive early on. This list has to win fast especially when the enemy has a platoon it can't kill. Mark also played a good game using his army well.

A Good Trade

A few weeks ago I saw my sometime opponent, fellow blogger and friend Jose had a page of items he wanted to trade for miniatures he could use. He happened to be looking for Soviet infantry and I happened to have a nice batch of Soviet Infantry I wasn't using so I got in touch with him.   I also offered him the Soviet AT guns and HMGs I had.
Jose had some very nice Pumas and as I had been looking for some more Pumas I jumped on them
Jose uses an airbrush so these look quite different from anything I have in my collection which is good so they can be used with my other Pumas and no one will confuse them.
I might add some additional decals at some point.  Now I know some of you are thinking this doesn't seem like a very equal trade....
and you would have been right but Jose has a laser cutter and he made me quite a number of movement stands for Longstreet (or other games) that will fit as many as five 1" square bases  to a s few as two 1" Square bases.  I think both of us got
