Before the walls of Syracues 212BC

The Romans advance and Celtic Mercenaries move out to oppose us in the open while the locals troops defend the walls.

The First clash of spears is hard on my Italian allies.
The Clash outside the wall continues to go less then well on the subsequent turns... and my cavalry can't quite make it to join up.
At this point I think my Opponent has more troops outside the walls as inside.

The Italian allies are destroyed but a barbarian formation also dies.  My Velites throw themselves at the other Barbarians the get hurt but it protects the flank.
What should have been a crushing victory.. is a bit of a draw... as we demoralize but don't destroy the Barbarians.
My artillery manage to demoralize the cavalry  as they charge.
Suddenly almost everyone has run away inside Syracuse...
Mya cavalry move to save the guns.. and a prolonged battle break out.
The assault on the wall begins! we hurt the Hoplites but they hold!
Then rally and counter Attack
This sort of escalade attack isn't easy...
Savage fighting continues..
and continues....
My men fight bravely but in the end...
