Cornwallis's Retreat 1795

Three French squadrons close in on two trailing British ships of the line

HMS Mars and HMS Revenge defend themselves with long range fire.
L'AGILE leading the French Leeward squadron catches fire after a broadside from HMS Bellaraphon.
HMS Revenge takes the brunt of the French fire as the fleets close.
HMS Royal Sovereign leads the rest of the British force.
Then disaster strikes as a critical hit ships away the Royal Sovereign's Rudder sending her towards the French. Who rake her repeatedly.
HMS Revenge sinks but HMS Mars forces two French ships to strike.
Royal Sovereign take a close range broadside from Tonnent having her freshly repaired ridder shot away again...
Bucentaur grapples Royal Sovereign and Nestor closes in. The noble ship is doomed but three British ships have escaped.  If the HMS Royal Sovereign hadn't suffered the ridder hits the fight might have gone very differently.

  2. What a fabulous naval game; again. It's amazing, this is one that we did a little while back and similarly the British had some terrible luck and lost Royal Sovereign too, as I recall!
